How will you know?

Hey Alexa, play Whitney Houston, "How Will I Know." 🎢🎢

Ok, now that we have our theme song for this issue of Founder Friday, I want to introduce you to one of my favorite terms - success statements.

This is something I talk about at the beginning and end of any gathering, meeting, planning session, and sometimes even with Joe (my husband) before we take a family vacation.

Simply put, a success statement is the answer to the question:

How will we know?

How will we know this was a good idea?
How will we know this was a good use of time?
How will we know when we made the right move?
How will we know that this was worth the money?
How will we know we achieved the mission?
and in the case of our family, How will we know that we want to take two children under 5 on another airplane ride?

The answer to the last one is usually NOT "If it's easy to pull off" but rather "If the stress of doing that is outweighed by the memories we've made" - then that's our measuring stick of success.

This weekend I am welcoming all of our franchise owners to a retreat called REV IT UP - our annual summit of franchisees and their leadership teams -  where we have one goal: to define and plan for a successful year ahead.

Here are my success statements I'll present to our owners tomorrow morning:

  • Gain clarity on your financial goals for the business, both short and long term

  • Understand the profitability necessary to achieve your goals

  • Develop a plan to achieve your profitability goals in 2025

    • a plan for the business

    • a plan for leading your team

    • a plan for leading yourself!

  • Leave feeling energized and connected to your why!

On Sunday, we'll simply evaluate - did we achieve the mission?

Do you have clarity on your financial goals?

Do you understand the profitability you need?

Do you have a plan for your business, team, and self for 2025?

Are you energized and connected to your why?

No but really, do you want to take my two small children on an airplane ride?

My success statement for Founder Friday answers the question - how will I know that I should keep writing my Emails every Friday?

  • More than a handful of people tell me they enjoy them

  • I enjoy writing them and don't have the "Thursday Scaries" knowing I have to write them on Fridays!

So for now at least, Founder Friday = success! Thanks for reading!
