Looking at yourself in the mirror
Y'all, I have to look at myself A LOT.
Today that means doing some of my own video editing ☝
Thoughts running through as I stare at myself and listen to myself on repeat....Do I like this shade of pink lip? Is it obvious that I'm improvising? Also, I have no regrets on that cheek filler I got a few months ago. 💉
But every day as a leader, I have to look at myself in all the other ways. Here's what I ask myself in the mirror
What kind of culture am I creating?
Does my team feel supported and emboldened?
Do I have the right people in the right positions?
Did I give enough coaching and guidance to my team?
Are we giving our franchise owners a great experience?
Do my habits match my values?
Do I know enough to make good decisions? What do I need to learn?
Do I need more mentorship?
Is my family getting the best of me? How can I be more intentional with my time I spend with them?
As a leader, always look at yourself first. Ask yourself the hard questions. And after you've done that - give yourself grace in the same mirror:
Girl, you're f*ing smart.
Keep going.
You've come so far.
Your best is good enough
You are gorgeousssss
You're living your dream.
You are loved.
You can do it.
The best is yet to come.
Quick story, in the spirit of Mothers Day — when I was trying out for cheerleader in middle school, I remember asking my mom, "Should I vote for myself?" In her most "my mom" kind of way, she said yes by saying, "Well if you don't vote for yourself, how do you expect anyone else to vote for you?" And that shit has stuck with me ever since. Thanks Mom.
Are you voting for yourself?
What do you say when you look at yourself?
