What are you waiting for?

Real talk... do you love your job?

If the answer was an immediate YES, then yayyyyyy. You can stop reading and delete this Email - you are thriving ✌️

But if the answer was "No," "Hell No," or any variation thereof, I have a follow up question: What are you waiting for?

I encounter people every day who are discontent with their role, their boss or the company they are part of.

They deserve better, but they don't make moves.

My last company-job in the music industry before I started my own was one that most people would —in theory, envy. I got to travel the world with artists, go to the Grammys, live on tour buses, walk red carpets, hear demos and music before the rest of the world. But I also worked with artists who had me clean their dirty laundry (literally and figuratively) and predatory male industry-mates who were not subtle in their attempts to sexualize every woman around them. To be honest— a lot of people in the music business are lacking a soul or brains or both.

So, what was I waiting for?

One afternoon my then-boss told me I was solely responsible for a "failed" album release and as a consequence he would be taking me off the project I had poured my life into for a year. He was clipping my wings (his words).

Late that night, I slipped back into the office, packed up, and Peggy Olson'd my way out of there. I deserved better, so I made moves. And I've never looked back.

If you hate your job — I want you to know that the way forward is totally in your control. You can leave or at least start working on your exit plan. You deserve better.

So, what are you waiting for?
