My first failure of 2025

I had a failure this week.

(I promised this list that I would share the good, bad, and strug-gly so I want to share this quick story and tell you what I learned from it.)

So, we planned a live streaming event on New Years Day to showcase our incredible 2 new class formats, NonStop and DanceRx.

We had beautifully shot classes loaded in and ready to go.

We made cute socials promoting it a few days before. Surely everyone knew about it and we would be exploding with "meeting join" requests as soon as the clock struck 10AM CT.

I was camera-ready, excited to greet our dancers who tuned in - ready to wish them a Happy New Year.

At 10:05, we had 5 people signed on.

Here's what I've learned from this:

  • Posting isn't marketing - it's not enough to do some "cute posts" and hope people see them and take the action you want

  • Though disappointed with the turnout, people who did tune in were LOVING IT and giving great feedback. I left feeling motivated on how I was going to get that 5 to become 5,000 in the future.

  • In the moment I was really frustrated, but I said nothing to my team - after all, it's on me to deploy expectations and standard operating procedures for events like this. They didn't fail - I failed.

You're going to see an overhaul and a double-down in the way we market the DivaDance brand this year. I can think of nothing more fitting than a reminder like this (in the form of failure) on New Years Day that it's time to do so.

By the way, here are the videos we shared on the stream (DanceRx and NonStop) - what do you think? How should we get the word out about these formats that I'm so proud of? I love your feedback!
