Sweating the Small Stuff
If you’re of a certain age, you might remember the book "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff."
They were everywhere—doctor’s offices, coffee tables, and even the back of the potty (Tell me you have a 4-year-old without telling me you have a 4-year-old...) They had Don't Sweat the Small Stuff at Work, Don't Sweat the Small Stuff at School, and Don't Sweat the Small Stuff While You're Sweating Small Stuff (okay, I made that last one up).
I always had a problem with these books because, frankly, I think sweating the small stuff has been a big part of my secret sauce.
I care about the impression something leaves, the story it tells, and the bigger narrative it creates. In Gen Z terms: I care about the vibes.
When we consistently elevate the small things, it creates momentum, trust, and pride. That energy compounds and spreads.
Which is why, within our brand, we have a term called "champagne quality." It’s the only way I could simply describe the level of excellence we expect in everything we do.
It’s why we require studios be refreshed with paint every three years. Why we ask instructors to wear clean tennis shoes. Why we obsess over playlists. It’s why my team has branded Zoom backgrounds. It's why we can't have the wrong color pink on an apparel item. It's why our office manager gets a message from me after I leave the potty (lol) that we need to get the black door repainted because the paint is chipping. It's just not champagne quality. Think of the small stuff as the bubbles. No bubbles, no chammy.
Almost every "little thing" at DivaDance that you know and love is likely in place because we DO sweat the small stuff.
