Who run this mutha?

Hola from Ciudad de México! Today was a day that I will never forget — teaching "Run the World" to a room full of non-native English speakers. I've taught that routine AT LEAST 100 times before over the last 15+ years but tonight it was at our first international franchise.

Thanks to my 4 semesters of Spanish in college (and listening to Bad Bunny Tití Me Preguntó in 2023 on heavy rotation), I was able teach a decent amount in Spanish. Also the sound effects that choreographers make when teaching and cueing (boom kat, shahhh, wah wah, shaka-shaka-boom) are truly universal. But also — "Cómo se dice "Shake your butt?"

Tonight the only thing truly different about my class was the geography.
The smiles - same.
The hype - same.
The sweat - same.
The confidence - same.
The community - same. Except there was something extra special about these babes.

Before class I had a chance to spend some special time with the staff of DivaDance CDMX and I asked them to share how being part of DivaDance has added value to their life in the last month since they opened. Some shared in English, some shared in Spanish.

All shared the same sentiment —

I can be my authentic self.

This is true happiness.

DivaDance helped me find my true purpose.

DivaDance changes lives.

It's unreal to see your mission come to life right before your eyes. Qué sueño!
